As dusk was near, the situation became very exciting. From underneath the skin of the monster, a flat and thick ramp seemed to peel from the bottom of the beast and rested its sturdy end on the ground. At first the ramp seemed like an attack and many of the people near the beast quickly and cautiously moved further away. Their fear and anxiety grew strong. At the middle of the beast a rectangular opening about 2 meters high, at the top of the ramp, exposed only darkness. But several minutes passed and there was no activity, although several men with weapons bravely attempted to peer upward into its insides, but then dashed away in fear.
Then the thousands of people were stunned as three beings walked into view. They filled the darkness inside the bottom of the creature as if standing inside of its belly. Each was about the height of a ten or twelve-year old child. They wore white clothing loosely on their smooth grey wet-looking skin and a multi-tubular apparatus over their faces. They walked down the ramp toward the crowd, their hands free of weapons and lose at their sides. The huge crowd backed away more than twenty paces uttering sounds and words of fear and caution, many raised the ends of their tools and weapons toward the beings. Parents gathered their children and held them tightly. The beings reached the ground and stepped a few paces from the end of the ramp, then stopped and stood. They retrieved flat stones from within their clothing which emitted a dull light upward toward their small faces. They spoke to each other softly and showed one another the face of the others' flat stones. They seemed to be in agreement about something.
A fourth being then appeared in the belly and immediately walked down and joined the others. Together the beings each removed the apparatus covering their faces, smiled, and held their smiles, and looked all around so that the large crowd could see them smiling. It was impossible to look away from the four small and thin beings with thin arms and legs like the smaller branches of trees, their hands twice as long as a human’s and with four thin fingers. They had bulbous grey heads like oblong-shaped grey stones, large brown eyes that looked as though they belonged on an insect or a fish, and a nose that was only two small nostrils with a raised bump above it. Their small mouths seemed too small for speaking or eating.
The Beaker peoples knew at this moment there would be no celebration or feasting on this night and no feasting to mark the end of the great gathering. They knew this day was like no other in all their lives. The smiling beings turned in all directions to face the thousands, raised their arms straight upward, spread out the four fingers of each hand, and smiling, each expressed and repeated a word in a high-toned chirping sound.
Even the neolithics of Great Britain knew; if you want something undisturbed for a long time, you cover it with WEIGHT.
